Governing BoardThe Commission is governed by a seven member commission. Two are members of the Board of Supervisors; two members are city officials, elected by the city selection committee; two are special district governing board members, elected by vote of the independent special districts; and one is a public member. Each category of membership has an alternate member.

Services: Review and approval of incorporations, annexations, consolidations and other changes of boundaries and organization of the cities and special districts in Marin County; determination of city and district spheres of influence;and intiation of studies of exisitng governmental agencies.

Marin LAFCO Commissioners
Marin LAFCO Commissioners receive a stipend of $100 per regular meeting of the Commission. Alternate members receive an equal stipend when seated as voting members. Alternate members not seated as voting members receive a stipend of $50.
Commissioners and Alternate Commissioners also receive reimbursement for reasonable and necessary expenses incurred in attendance of Commission meetings or performance of other official Commission business. Reasonable and necessary expenses include the costs of transportation, lodging, food, communications, training or events related to service on the Commission.

Marin LAFCO Staff
LAFCO staff participates in standard benefit programs offered by Marin County to the County employees. It is the intention of the Commission to provide its employees with pay and benefits directly comparable to equivalent positions in the County’s employment classification system.
