Joint Powers Agency

(Section 6500 et seq. State Government Code)

If authorized by their governing bodies, two or more public agencies may jointly exercise any power common to both through a joint powers agreement or contract. The agreement may set up a governing board composed of representatives of the contracting agencies. The inter-agency contract or agreement defines the governance and functions of the joint powers agency.
